Ordinary Time is that part of the Christian liturgical year outside of Advent, Christmastide, Lent, the Easter Triduum, and Eastertide, and is divided into two periods: that between Christmastide and Lent, and that between Eastertide and Advent.
This season of Ordinary Time gives expression to the everyday faith that shapes us. The readings that make up Ordinary Time map out salvation history from the Hebrew scriptures and God’s call to the Israelites, through to the story of Jesus and his call to us. This season allows us to see and hear how the sacred call that comes to each of us in ordinary, wondrous everyday ways.
