Kathleen MCWHAE is lovingly remembered by children Elizabeth, Jennifer and John (Sandra); five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was pre-deceased by her husband J. Ross Hope McWhae and parents Florence May Pike and Gordon Morris Pike.Kathleen grew up in Fiji and Australia.
She loved people, animals and nature from the start. She attended Loreto School in Toorak, Victoria, Australia. She completed a BSc and MSc from University of Melbourne with an academic interest in fossilized pollen. She then did research at Cambridge University for 18 months. She first met Ross at Cambridge. Her mother purchased a new car which Kathleen took delivery of in England. She drove around post-war Europe with friends on a wonderful 4 month trip before shipping the car on to her mother in Melbourne. Kathleen married Ross in Perth, Western Australia in 1955.Her children were born in Perth before a move to Calgary in 1968. The final move was to Victoria, BC in 1986.
Kathleen played tennis for over 65 years and her tennis was brilliant. She competed and won at National and International level tournaments while in her 70's. She was a tennis coach. She loved squash also.
Kathleen loved life and loved to laugh.
